We sat down with LA-based blogger Francis Lola, over brunch at Filifera, which recently launched on weekends, and spoke about her life as a blogger and some of her favorite places you must stay and dine at in the world.

What you do for a living?

I’m a full-time blogger. I focus mainly on style, but also talk about travel and beauty.

What does a normal day look like for you?

Coffee, work out, emails/work, errands/meetings, dinner with the boyfriend or friends.

As you travel out a lot, what are your top 3 destinations in the world?

Japan, Malta and Bali

Where do you see influencer marketing heading towards in the future?

I see it growing! Influencer marketing is a great way to get buzz created about a place, person or thing. I think it’s only going to expand and become more widely popular than it is now.

What is your favorite social media platform?

You must get a lot of invitations to events happening around the world, restaurant & hotel openings, and unique experiences. If you had to choose your favorite, which invite would it be and why?

It’s hard to choose! A few experiences I loved, I did the Mario Kart tour in Tokyo, I rode a camel and camped in the Sahara Desert, and got to swim with sharks and stingrays on the island of Mo’orea. As for hotels, La Mamounia in Marrakech, Unico 20° 87° in Riviera Maya, and Le Sirenuse in Positano are some beautiful ones I’ve visited so far. Some favorite restaurants include Sketch in London, The French Laundry in Yountville, and Ichiran Ramen in Japan. Although, I wasn’t invited to these, I went and dined here on my own!

What are you currently listening to on your playlist?

The Weeknd’s new album, My Dear Melancholy

What is your favorite thing to do in your hotel room?

Order room service and take a bath!

Don’t forget to follow Francis on Instagram and check out her blog for the latest in style, beauty, & travel.

What is Proper?

Proper began as a feeling, not as an idea. The feeling was something akin to empathy; an acute awareness that despite the current proliferation of “boutique” and “lifestyle” hotels and residences, there were precious few properties designed for and around today’s global creative nomad. Many in our milieu share the same daunting challenge: staying fresh and focused, energized and inspired—all whilst bouncing between London and Hollywood and Austin and San Francisco and Portland and back again. For them, intuitive service is a given. Mere table stakes. What they need and seek beyond accommodation, even at its most luxurious, is an inspiration. From the elevated and often surprising interiors imagined by Kelly Wearstler. From the sense of immersion in, and connection to, the vibrancy of the local culture. From the highly curated amenities. From the inspired collaborations with the city’s best and most innovative chefs and mixologists. From music and art. From every detail, every interaction, every moment. This is only Proper. And no one else.
