With city lights and vintage brick as a backdrop, Proper re-imagines and updates an historic Broadway Corridor landmark into a 147-room destination hotel. Here, the creative vision of Kelly Wearstler seamlessly blends past and present with compelling design, vintage influence and local art. Essentials include two destination restaurants in partnership with James Beard Award-winning L.A. chef Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne (Lucques, a.o.c., Hollywood Bowl Food + Wine, Larder Baking company); an intimate library-lounge, a city-view rooftop pool and lounge-bar-restaurant. Especially Proper are two singular, one-of-a-kind suites fashioned from the basketball court and indoor pool of the building’s sporting club past.
Each of our 147 rooms and suites is subtly different, and layered with pattern, texture and color. Proper beds are dressed with crisp imported linens, tiled baths are inspired by Moroccan interiors, and are appointed with custom robes and Aesop amenities.
At the helm of Proper’s food & beverage program are James Beard award-winning restaurateurs Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne. The casual elegance cultivated at their celebrated Los Angeles mainstays (a.o.c., Hollywood Bowl Food + Wine, Larder Baking company) will inform DTLA Proper’s restaurants, special events menus, and in-room dining.
