Habitat for Humanity’s Hurricane Harvey & Irma Relief Efforts
The music of West Coast DJ, Ricardo Torres can best be described as a blend of deep, soulful house, and disco inflected with the particular sound of the west coast vibe, sultry and smooth. He plays the music that heads love to dance to; confident that when the music flows from hands that loves the underground it can be an uplifting, groovy and sexy experience. Ricardo has been on a quest to achieve that perfect mix ever since his first chance encounter at the turntables, in 1987 at his college radio station in Montreal, Canada. Within the recent past Ricardo joined forces with Nu Disco Your Disco out of Germany for representation and affiliation. He has also become the resident host of their very popular NDYD Radio Show that airs weekly on the d3ep Radio Network in the UK. This modern Nu Disco sound, to him, is the perfect way to bring that West Coast vibe into the future and the new generation.
Justin Paul is an internationally acclaimed DJ, Record Producer, and the co-founder of Underground Sol & Playloop Music. Justin Paul’s hit remake of “How Long” reached number one on the Beatport Nudisco chart in June 2015. His 2016 live music project (Justin Paul Presents The Model) is an indie dance act inspired by classic 80s electronic dance music. The Art of the Essential
Art of the Essential is Chris Caparro. Los Angeles based, Philadelphia native, Chris Caparro has spent the last 15 years cultivating his musical tastes in a wide variety of musical genres. Having grown up on hip-hop his roots run deep. (his first record ever purchased being Africa Bambaata’s “Renegades of Funk”) It was monumental for him, breaking boundaries and setting a clear path for open creativity in the world of music. Fast forward 20 years to 2002 and it was officially time to get started. Chris bought equipment, started collecting vinyl and the rest as they say … is history. For the past 15 years Chris has hosted a variety of successful Los Angeles based parties which include “Funky in the Middle”, “16Bit&Beyond”, “Family Affair” and the monthly “Rise Up”.
Proper began as a feeling, not as an idea. The feeling was something akin to empathy; an acute awareness that despite the current proliferation of “boutique” and “lifestyle” hotels and residences, there were precious few properties designed for and around today’s global creative nomad. Many in our milieu share the same daunting challenge: staying fresh and focused,
energized and inspired—all whilst bouncing between London and Hollywood and Austin and San Francisco and Portland and back again. For them, intuitive service is a given. Mere table stakes. What they need and seek beyond accommodation, even at its most luxurious, is inspiration. From the elevated and often surprising interiors imagined by Kelly Wearstler. From the sense of immersion in, and connection to, the vibrancy of the local culture. From the highly curated amenities. From the inspired collaborations with the city’s best and most innovative chefs and mixologists. From the music and the art. From every detail, every interaction, every moment. This is only Proper. And no one else.
