The property is owned by Proper Hospitality and was originally designed in 1928 by architect Arthur E. Harvey. It has been restored and integrated with contemporary architecture to form the current hotel, known as Santa Monica Proper Hotel.

In our kitchen, we’re taking a bold step toward a healthier planet and healthier guests: we are a seed oil-free facility. Instead, we exclusively use Zero Acre oil – a next-generation cooking oil made from fermentation, not fields. Unlike conventional seed oils, Zero Acre oil requires far less land and water to produce, emits fewer greenhouse gases, and delivers a cleaner, more stable fat for cooking. It’s better for you, and better for the Earth.

The hotel staff is multi-lingual, offering services in various languages to accommodate guests. Specific languages spoken may vary by staff member.

Reservations must be canceled or modified 48 hours prior to arrival by 3 PM PST, or guests will be charged a one-night penalty.

We’re a proudly pet-friendly hotel. We welcome dogs (no other pets at this time), with a maximum of two pets per room and a weight limit of 45 lbs each. Additional fees may apply for any damages.
