Beginning with a five-acre shellfish lease in 1983, John Finger and Terry Sawyer discovered their bi-valve paradise in the brackish waters of Tomales Bay, an hour north of SF. Hog Island now produces an annual crop of three million Atlantic, Pacific and Kumamoto oysters. Best enjoyed at one of their picnic tables right off Highway 1 in Point Reyes.
